The time has passed when I can take gorgeous, natural photos of Bob. Now, whenever I produce the camera, she stares at it and shouts, ‘Cheese!’

As I am now going to have to work harder to capture my photographs, I decided to be really brave! I turned the dial to manual!!! I have worked with the shutter speed and aperture settings independently but this was the first time that I have controlled both.

I wanted to create depth of field so I messed around with the settings for a while. Eventually it happened! Whether I used the correct settings or whether I was very lucky I do not know. I did, however, manage to capture a clear Bob and a blurred background over and over again. In the past I have managed to take one good shot and then failed to recreate the effect. Bob had pulled out her hair clip and wouldn’t stop saying ‘Cheese,’ but look at the blurred background! πŸ™‚

These photos were taken with an aperture of f5 and a shutter speed of 1/60. I’m not sure if this is right but it worked! πŸ™‚ If any of you would like to share any tips they would be gratefully received!

This week I have really struggled to pick a Fun Photo Favourite! I was stuck between two posts. One was gorgeous and the other was amazing! In the end, I turned to you. Your β€˜likes’ helped me to decide.

Lucy from Dear Beautiful Boy linked up a gorgeous post! It was beautifully written and the photographs were stunning! This post was a favourite of mine before she linked up and it still is!

As a reward Lucy can take me to see those beautiful beach huts! She can also display the Fun Photo Favourite badge if she wishes.

Congratulations are also in order as Lucy has added a Beautiful Girl to her family. She definitely lives up to her name. Congratulations hon!

This is a Fun Photo Fun post, from a few weeks ago, which is perfect for this weeks See It, Snap It, Love It. This weeks theme is Smile and this post is all about how Bob smiles too much whenever I produce a camera! It was too perfect not to link up. Sorry it’s not a photo that I have taken this week. Hope that’s o.k.

Awww, thank-you for your lovely kind words about my linked post, my photos and about my new arrival. Gorgeous photos of your Bob this week I have to say, she has the cutest and cheekiest grin ever. Adorable.

You have really out done yourself with the photos this week. Well done you for turning the dial to manual! Experimenting they say is always the best way to learn. Still have not braved that one yet! I am always stuck in AV or just P if I’m inside or it’s dark and I want to keep it safe. It’s great how her coat provides a natural frame for her face!

By the way she is gorgeous with that wee cheeky grin!

Lovely shots, great blurry backgrounds πŸ™‚

The lower the f number the more blurry you’ll get, but there are lots of other factors, like how far away from the background you are. Because you’ve shot in quite an open space there’s not a lot in between Bob and the background, so you don’t have a bunch of stuff that’s only a little bit blurry. Does that make sense? Probably not.

Anyway, experimenting is the best way to really get to grips with the manual setting. If you’re like me you’ll get loads of rubbish and a few good shots…

I hoped that I had stumbled upon the magic, foolproof settings that would produce a blurry background in any situation. Obviously that was too good to be true! πŸ˜‰ My next step will have to be blurred background inside. Maybe I’m not ready for that just yet! Thank you! My photo shoots usually have lots of rubbish but I was really lucky this time.

Thanks for hosting a fun W.W. blog hop! I found you through Mom’s Bookshelf & More’s hop. I loved reading about your little girl (especially that she kept saying “cheese”) and how happy you were with the outcome of your photos. My camera is too basic to switch to manual. I hope to one day get something where I can. I also have a hop on the go at http://abooksandmore.blogspot.com/2012/10/picture-perfect-party-linky-10.html

I don’t think you did too badly. Those are fabulous pictures. Just wait until she’s older and you can direct her.

What gorgeous portraits, and kudos for experimenting in manual mode. It’s one of those things I always say I will make time to do next week but never get round to. I never want to miss the shot by on-the-fly. I’m inspired by your shots though and am going to flip the dial and start playing.

Love the fact she says ‘cheese’ at the camera all the time! I just point and shoot with a compact digital camera and quite often the results are OK (thank god for digitals though!)
