Last weekend we were invited to the opening of a new Beano themed play area at the Old Brickworks Brewers Fayre.
We have been to a Brewers Fayre before and Bob enjoyed the Beano colouring packs there so she already knew who Dennis The Menace and Gnasher were. When I asked her if she would like to go and meet them she was very excited!
I was quite excited too! When I was a child I used to get the Beano delivered every week. I was also a member of Dennis The Menace’s fan club. He was my role model! 🙂
When we arrived at the pub Dennis was outside waiting to meet us. The first thing that Bob said was, ‘Where’s Gnasher?’ Sorry Dennis! I assured Bob that we would see Gnasher soon!
We were shown to our table where we would have lunch and they then took us into the play area. It was fab! There were huge comics printed on it and various Beano flags hanging on the ceiling.
There was also mask making, face painting and balloon modelling happening!
Bob was very excited! She didn’t know what to do first! Eventually she decided that we should make a mask. Whilst I was happily colouring in my Minnie The Minx mask the star guest arrived! The mask making had to be put on hold as we had to go and meet Gnasher right away!
Bob loved him! She kept stroking him and he was very good and he didn’t Gnash her once!
Bob didn’t want to have her face painted as she struggles with eczema so she had her arm painted instead. The lady who did the face painting was really good! Bob’s arm was a work of art!
Bob enjoyed playing in the play area but she was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a slide in the big area. There was one in the toddler section which I told her she would be fine to go on but she thought she was far too grown up for that!
We had a lovely meal and whilst we were waiting for our lunch Bob was presented with her very own Gnasher! She was over the moon!
Bob had a wonderful morning and it is one she will remember for sometime. She talks about Gnasher constantly and I think she will follow in my Beano footsteps!
