I love wooden toys, there is something so special and timeless about them. Bob has a lovely kitchen with wooden cakes and food that you can cut in half. I much prefer this to the plastic alternative.

I was asked if we would like to review something from the Wooden Toy Shack and I had a tough time choosing a product. They have so many lovely toys! In the end I chose a wooden cash register. Bob has a plastic till and I thought it would be lovely to upgrade to a wooden version.

The till is simpler then the plastic one that Bob already has but I think this makes it more special. More things are left to your imagination which is lovely! I was surprised that the buttons could actually be pressed. I thought they were just there to look the part.

The till has a drawer that is separated into different compartments so that the coins and notes can be organised. I love the little red elastic that keeps the notes in place. It also has a wooden scanner and card machine that you attached to the till with little red ropes.

Bob has been having lots of fun with this. She often sets up a shop and asks me or her daddy to buy something from her.

This till is great for mathematical development. It helps children to recognise numbers and Bob has also been putting the coins in size order. In a few months as her maths skills develop she will be able to use this to help her to solve addition and subtraction problems.

Here she is setting up the till and having fun playing with it. Unfortunately our little reviewer was ill and had a nasty cough but she soldiered on.

Disclaimer: We were sent the till free of charge in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Wooden toys just seem so much more robust. They can handle actually being played with better than plastic and somehow just seem friendlier.

I will get some wooden toys for my kids when they are older. I feel plastic toys are the way to go for now that they are throwing things around.
