Last Christmas our friends came to visit. We had a wonderful fun filled day! The children enjoyed making Snowman Splat Biscuits. I got the idea for these from Pinterest and I couldn’t wait to try making our own!

We baked some biscuits and then decorated them with marshmallow fluff, marshmallows, writing icing and sprinkles. I was going to use icing for the melted snow part of the biscuit. Then, whilst I was shopping, I found a jar of marshmallow fluff in B and M Bargains. I had never heard of this before but I thought it might work quite well. It worked even better than I thought. The fluff ran over the biscuit and then set. I had thought it would stay sloppy. It was much yummier than icing too!

If you would like to make some Snowman Splat Biscuits you will need:

For the biscuits
100g unsalted butter (at room temperature)
100g caster sugar
1 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
275g plain flour
* This will make about 8 biscuits. I doubled the quantities as you can never have too many biscuits. If you want a quick activity you could use ready made biscuits.

The biscuit recipe is taken from our Princess Poppy’s Cookbook.

For the topping
Marshmallow Fluff
Marshmallows
Brown and orange writing icing (You could use other colours and add a scarf!)
Silver balls

Method
1) Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
2) Cream the butter and sugar together until smooth.
3) Gradually mix in the egg.
4) Add the vanilla extract and mix.
5) Sieve the flour and then stir it into the mixture.

6) Combine the mixture into a dough. (I find using your hands is best.)
7) Roll the dough out until it is approximately half an inch thick.
8) Cut out the biscuits and place them on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.
9) Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden.
10) Allow the biscuits to cool completely on a wire rack.
11) Cover the biscuits in marshmallow fluff.
12) Draw a face on a marshmallow with writing icing, pop it on tip of the biscuit and decorate how you like.
