As some of you may know, we live in a rented property. We moved to the village just over a year ago and, although we like it here, we are reluctant to buy as it seems very final. I know you can move once you have bought a house but as we have never owned our own property I feel that if we bought a house we would live in it forever.

I also worry about getting a mortgage. We have never applied for something so huge and I worry about the process and working out how much we can borrow. It seems silly as the rent that we pay each month is probably twice as much as a mortgage would be but it still seems so scary.

I don’t mind renting on the whole. We have a lovely landlady who has told us that we can have the house for as long as we like. There are times however that I wish we owned our own place.

I was recently offered the chance to review one of the freestanding soaking bathtubs.

beautiful bath tub

I would have loved one of these! They are gorgeous and I know one would have looked amazing in our en suite! As we do not own the property I had to decline.

I keep thinking of how wonderful it would have been to have a beautiful bath in our grown up bathroom! We only have a shower in there. It is a very good shower but if I want a bath I have to go in our family bathroom.

Baths in the family bathroom aren’t very relaxing. I can’t use this bathroom after the children have gone to bed so I have to sneak up there at some point before 7pm. Before I can even run a bath I have to gather up all of the rubber ducks, mermaids and foam letters. Then, unless I want to wash my hair in strawberry fairy shampoo I have to go and get the shampoo and conditioner out of our bathroom. I then run a bath and get some towels.

Just as I am getting into the bath a little person appears with a cheeky smile on her face. ‘Are you having a bath mummy?’ she asks. 99% of me wants to say, ‘No, I am not having a bath, there is nothing to see here! Go back downstairs please.’ Somehow the other 1% always wins. I see her standing there all hopeful and I tell her to jump in.

Bob loves it when we have a bath together! She feels very grown up and she asks if we can put some music on and use bath bombs.

fun girlie baths

This may sound lovely and relaxing but as she spends the majority of the bath making me catch the bath bomb as she is worried it will dissolve it can be quite challenging.

I do love our girlie baths and I know the day will come when she is far too cool to have a bath with her mummy so I treasure these moments. It would be lovely however to have somewhere to go with a glass of Prosecco and a magazine once my babies are asleep.

That would have been such an awesome opportunity as that freestanding bath is gorgeous. I rent too, and the bathroom is pretty basic, but if I ever own my own home one of the luxuries I’ll hopefully be able to allow myself will be a huge bath like that! x
