Last year we were surrounded by baby things so we decided to do a car boot sale. I was tempted to keep a few thing just in case we decided to have another baby but in the end all that I kept hold of was the nursery furniture. This was brand new as Bob didn’t sleep. I knew that I wouldn’t get a new price for it so decided to hold onto it. Everything else had to go!
My husband was tempted to throw everything in a skip but I convinced him to come to a car boot sale and I’m glad I did. We had a great stall full of toys and baby things and I took our rotary area to display Bob’s old clothes on. Everyone thought this was a great idea and the clothes were a great seller. We did have to sell things cheaply but as we had a lot we made over £200 so it was well worth doing.
It did have several downsides though. It was a scorching hot day and I constantly worried about Bob, either being in the sun or in the hot car. She also didn’t want to stay near the stall so one of us had to constantly run around after her whilst the other one manned the stall. It is also quite daunting at the beginning of a car boot sale. Many trade buyers descend on you and they can be quite pushy! I lost count of the amount of people that tried to buy my pushchair. I kept having to tell them it wasn’t for sale but they didn’t want to listen.
We are now overrun with toys and clothes again and it is time for another clear out! I am not sure I can face another car boot sale as Bob will definitely keep us on our toes this year and the weather is far too warm to stand in a field all day!
As you probably know I love online shopping and I rarely buy things in store. I have now discovered that there is a great way to sell toys online so I am very happy. It’s not an auction, you do not have to deal with awkward buyers. You just tell them what you would like to sell and they tell you how much they will pay. Thank you Music Magpie!
