We have finally got around to registering Bow’s birth. We had an appointment last week but when we turned up Michael had booked the wrong day. Luckily we managed to rearrange another appointment before he was 6 weeks old.

During the meeting the lady asked me what my profession was. I didn’t know what to put. In my head my blog is still a hobby. I wasn’t sure I had a profession.

Michael pointed out that my blog had been a good source of income for several years and that I should say that I am a writer. This sounded odd to me. Yes people pay me to write on a regular basis but I wasn’t sure I could call myself a writer.

After a but of confusion and a sense that I was wasting too much time I agreed to put that as my profession. Since then I have felt quite proud about it. I also feel extremely lucky! Something that started out as a hobby is now my job. I don’t think there are many people that can say that!

I do something that I love for a living and it works around my children. I mean this in a childcare sense but I had to chuckle! As I am writing this I am literally working around Bow! I am using the notes section of my iPhone as he sleeps on my chest. 🙂 I write most of my posts this way and I started to wonder, if I am now a writer surely I should have a beautiful writing space!

We have a small 4th bedroom that would be perfect for this! I have been putting together a few ideas and I am getting quite excited about the thought of a lovely place that I could go to work. I would probably still have Bow asleep on me but that is the beauty of working from home. Here are my thoughts.

I have found some lovely furniture by Danetti that would be perfect! Their products are contemporary and the seem to say ‘clutter free’. Our house is ‘clutter full’ so these items would be perfect for my workspace. They would make a lovely, calming place to escape to.

I would also need to be comfortable and this cushion is so pretty!

I would need to keep an eye on the time too as I wouldn’t want to get carried away and be late for picking Bob up from school!

I would need stationary storage to help with the neat and uncluttered idea.

I would need one of these just because!

And who doesn’t need post its in the shape of a dog!

It is a work in progress. The longer I look the more items I find that I simply have to have. I am loving the idea of a place that I can go to when I am working. I would get so much more done if I wasn’t surrounded by distractions. Working from the living room is very hard as I have to constantly restrain myself from turning on the television.

I now just need to convince Michael that we don’t need a spare bed. I have a feeling he may wish he had never convinced me to call myself a writer. 🙂

Disclosure: This is a collaborative post.

I didn’t realise you had to enter such details on a registration form.
