The other day my husband and I were playing around on YouTube, showing Bob television programmes from when we were younger. We searched for the programmes as we remembered them and with each search many memories came flooding back! Television used to be fantastic! We had so much fun and I have so many programmes that I want to share with you that I thought I could make it a weekly post. For those of you my age and older,  it will be a trip down memory lane, for the younger ones it will be an eye opener and for your children it will be amazing! Bob loved watching the shows from our youth (maybe not quite as much as we did) and hopefully you will too.

To begin with I was going to list them in chronological order but then I thought that if I mixed them up a bit, it would be more interesting. (I’m so Rock n Roll!) ;0) When I first started researching the dates that the progammes were broadcast I suddenly felt really old! They only reach 1991 which is over 20 years ago. I am hoping that the reason for this is that they aired/showed repeats for many years and some were originally shown in America. This theory is backed up by the fact that they start many years before I was born. If I keep telling myself this I can convince myself that I have only been a grown up for a couple of years! ;0)

I have made a timeline which I will add the programmes to as I go along, so that you can see the approximate dates that I am going to cover. I hope that you enjoy these posts as much as I have enjoyed doing the research for them!

The first programme that I am going to choose is one of the first that I thought of. It’s a well known classic which I thought would be a good way to ease you in, before the madness starts. It contains a talking pile of rubbish (that knows everything), hundreds of little workmen (Doozers), Giants (Gorgs) and (of course) Fraggles! Hard to believe that all of this takes place through a hole in a wall! Set in the caves of Fraggle Rock, Jim Henson’s muppets are used to create a truly amazing show! This is the first episode which originally aired in 1983, in which the Fraggles discover Outer Space (our world). Just to warn you, the episodes of Fraggle Rock are about 20 minutes long, well worth a watch if you have the time but, if not, just watch the theme tune! It’s fab!
