It has been a while since I have written a Can’t Beat The Classics post. We have been very busy and I have had so many posts to write. My drafts folder is still full! As the weather has been miserable, I thought that it would be a good time to write one as we could all do with a giggle.

The classic that I am going to share with you today is centred around a very famous bunch of creatures. As well as a successful television show, they have had several hit songs and they have also performed live on daytime television and at Glastonbury!!!

They live in London, near where they play tennis, and they have put rubbish collectors out of work! They have very exotic names as the writer named her characters after places that were connected to her family in some way. There was Wellington, Orinoco and Uncle Bulgaria. I think that you may have guessed it by now! That’s right, it’s The Wombles!

The episode that I am going to share with you today is The Purple Paw Mystery where there is a mystery involving purple paw prints. The plot lines were very complicated!

Enjoy!

Bob’s Opinion

I love The Wombles! We are going to London next week so I am going to ask Mummy and Daddy to find one for me! I am going to call him Blackpool as I like going to Blackpool, as there’s a giant swimming pool, ice cream and Momar and GranGran.

I am going to link this post up to Save Every Steps, Life’s A Journey linky as this weeks theme is Childhood TV Classics. It took me a while to decide which Can’t Beat The Classic to link up. In the end, I decided to link up my most recent post. If you would like to read my other posts just click on the button below.

Loving your Wombling memories!! Thanks for linking up to the nostalgia Link-Up this week!!! great to have you on board. It’s tough getting a new kind of Linky off the ground, but I’m sticking with it (too much fun to stop!)

Yay Wombles! Orinoco is the coolest name.

We went away for a week to a country cottage, the tv only had standard channels and a very bad reception this. There was a DVD player though and hubby got a free wombles DVD in the paper. The children were hooked they still ‘get wombling’ and laugh at the jokes from one of the episodes. Then they showed all their friends who loved it too – the oldies really are the best! x

Aw I love The Wombles. I still have their album – sadly it is on cassette and I no longer have a cassette player – and I still have an Orinocho Womble somewhere at my parents house.
