Bob has been getting more and more inquisitive over the past few weeks. Some of her questions/wonderments are hilarious so I thought that I would share a few of my favourites with you.

After a manic weekend of moving house we decided to have dinner at our local pub. Michael’s brother and sister in law had helped us move so we thought it would be nice to escape the boxes and go out for dinner and a few drinks.

Whilst we were waiting for our food to arrive Bob needed the toilet. As she was having a wee she announced, ‘I have got a bottom.’

‘Yes you have,’ I replied.

Bob looked at me for a moment and I could almost see the cogs turning in her head. After a while she said, ‘Daddy has got a…’ There was a long pause before she added, ‘…a bottom.’

‘Yes, Daddy has got a bottom as well,’ I confirmed.

There was another pause before Bob whispered, ‘But Daddy has also got a…’ She didn’t finish this sentence but she pointed her finger to indicate what Daddy had.

Willy

I decided to put her out of her misery and cut to the chase. ‘Daddy has got a willy,’ I told her.

Bob thought about this for a moment before she asked, ‘Has Uncle James got a willy?’ I told her that he had. ‘Has Auntie Charlotte got a willy?’

I could tell that more explaining was required. ‘No, Auntie Charlotte doesn’t have a willy because she is a girl. Boys have willys, girls don’t.’

Bob accepted this and we went to join everyone.

When we got back to the table Bob announced very loudly, ‘Daddy has got a willy!’

The pub fell quiet. Bob took this as encouragement and started chanting, ‘Willy! Willy! Willy!’

Michael looked at me in shock before asking, ‘What on earth happened in the toilet?’

Out of the mouths of babes! I always remember one of mine coming out with (in the centre of a busy town)? Is that man a chicken? No sweetheart, i told him. Well his hair looks like a chicken’s feathers!! It sure did – it was at the height of the Punk Rock era and the poor lads hair indeed looked like a cockerel’s tail! The lad did laugh though and we didn’t get threatened with violence!
