Written on the 3rd August

We had a wonderful, pregnancy symptom free holiday last week. That was until 3 hours before we were due to leave the hotel. It was then that my ankles decided to balloon to the size of elephants!

Swollen-Ankles-In-Pregnancy

In a way I am glad that it happened before I was on the aeroplane, otherwise I would have panicked about deep vein thrombosis. It still worried me slightly as my ankles were so swollen they were quite stiff and I knew I wouldn’t be able to move them around as much as I should have when we were on the aeroplane.

The journey home was quite uncomfortable. The swelling got worse and by the time I got home I could hardly walk.

Luckily I had an appointment with the consultant that afternoon so she was able to put my mind at rest. She made another appointment for two weeks time to be on the safe side. The swelling went down after a couple of days and I am hoping it doesn’t come back.
