As I may have mentioned once or twice, we are planning a clown party for Bob’s 2nd birthday. I have been having lots of fun planning this party and I can’t wait! I’m sure Bob is excited about it too! 😉

I think that the theme of a party is set with the invitations. I looked for clown invitations but I couldn’t find any that I liked so I decided to make them. I thought I would share with you how I made them as they are easy to make and they look fab!

Clowns

You will need:

White card

Funky foam (I bought this from asda, I am not sure if it is called this elsewhere.)

Red pompoms

Small pompoms (various colours)

Wobbly eyes

Scissors

PVA glue (or big girls glue as we call it).

What to do:

These instructions are for one invitation.

1) Cut 2 circles out of white card. One plain and one with your invitation wording.

* I scanned the circle for the clowns face into the computer so that I could add the invitation wording. You could always hand write this.

2) Cut out the following shapes out of funky foam. 1 x red smile, 1 x hat, 2 x hair, 1 x flower. You can use any colour you like for the hat, hair and flower.

Foam

* I drew templates for the clowns face, hat, hair, smile and flower. I put these together on a piece of A4 card and added them to the end of this post so that you could also use them or you could draw your own if you prefer.

3) Using PVA glue stick the bowler hat onto one of your white card circles.

Hat

4) Turn this circle over and stick the hair on the back.

Hair

5) Stick your second cardboard circle on the back, covering the edges of the clowns hair.

Wording

6) Turn your invitation over and stick on your funky foam mouth, 2 wobbly eyes and a red pompom nose.

Almost-Finishe-Clown

* I used two sizes of pompoms as I ran out of big ones. I was glad of the smaller noses when it came to posting the invitations!

7) Attach your flower to the clowns hat and stick a small pompom in the centre.

Finished-Clown

Ta da!

I was hoping that Bob would help me with the invitations but she has started wanting to eat pompoms. I think that these invitations are simple enough for children to make but maybe children who are slightly older and wiser than Bob. 🙂

Now all we need are some clown party supplies, lots of cake and we’re all set!

Templates

I have attached these full size so you should be able to print them as A4. Fingers crossed! 🙂

I have included a full sized JPEG image at the bottom of this post. If you click on it you will be taken to a page that is just an image, then you can print them out. Hopefully this will work. Let me know if you need any help. x
