I love how grateful Bob is! At Christmas and her birthday she really appreciates every gift that she receives. She gives the perfect reaction which makes the people that have given her the present feel wonderful!

very grateful

She spends hours opening presents and wants to play with each one right away. I love that she does this as I have seen other children tear off the wrapping paper, toss the present to one side and move on to the next one. I have also seen children be disappointed at what they have received. Of course Bob doesn’t think that every single gift is amazing but she reacts like she does which I think is a really wonderful quality!

Not many people possess this quality and many grown ups struggle to hide their disappointment. Slotfruit have designed an infographic entitled ‘The 5 Stages Of Not Getting What You Want For Christmas’ and it made me chuckle.

It reminded me of one Christmas before Bob was born. My husband really wanted a bike for Christmas. He mentioned it in passing, dropped hints and even resorted to miming riding a bicycle down the high street. I told him I was really sorry but there was no way we could afford one. He accepted this with a heavy heart.

His Dad and I went to fetch him a bike one day when he was at work and we hid it at his Mum and Dad’s house as that is where we were spending Christmas morning. When the big day came we had a lovely morning opening presents. When everything had been unwrapped Michael didn’t seem too disappointed.

A little while later his younger brother rode into the room on a bike. Michael started to frown. He asked if Jon had got a bike for Christmas. He then realised that we were all smiling at him and the penny dropped. He was over the moon!

Unfortunately not everyone will get what they want for Christmas. If this happens to you hopefully you can find some comfort in this infographic. 🙂

when we were younger we got so many presents that we just ripped off the paper without even looking at the gift or we wouldn’t have ever opened them all. I made a point of not doing this with my children, they get a few nice gifts that I know they will appreciate and use and I think it’s lovely your daughter has such an appreciation at such a young age.

She must really love that backpack, but who blames her? I have been pretty lucky with the presents I was given and I liked most of them. It’s the thought that counts.
