This is Betty, my beautiful Beetle. I loved her very much and I did not want to part with her. Although I was ready to have a baby, I was not ready to buy a Volvo and become a Soccer Mom. Did you sleep with your baby? I managed to not sleep with Bob for the first week of her life. I very cleverly sidestepped this by not sleeping! No matter how long Bob had been asleep for and how carefully I put her into her Moses basket she woke up. I told my midwife and she came to help to try and settle her. When people asked me if breastfeeding was painful I’d say ‘No. Not once I’d reached my second pair of nipples!’ My first literally peeled off! Before I became pregnant I would have said that I wasn’t bothered about breastfeeding. When I was expecting Bob I said that I would give it a go but that I wasn’t going to beat myself up about it.
