How To Make A Clown Birthday Cake

I wrote this post after Bob’s 2nd birthday party but I didn’t know if it was too complicated to post. I would love to start sharing how I make my special cakes with you but I am not sure if you will be able to follow my waffle. I’d love to know your thoughts as I have a Lightning Mcqueen cake that I could share with you and I will soon be making a fairy cake! What do you think? [click here to read on]

Bob's Cake Decorating Debut

Bob loves baking and she has decorated many cupcakes and cookies in her 2 and a half years. This year, against my better judgement, I allowed Bob to decorate our Christmas cake. I covered the cake with marzipan and icing and then I coloured some icing for Bob to decorate it with. Bob did the rest. She chose the colours, rolled out the icing, cut out the shapes and decided where to stick them. I think she did a really [click here to read on]

If Only It Was Big Enough To Live In!

I love gingerbread houses. I make it my mission to make a house or a train every year. It seems like such a Christmassy thing to do. This year Sykes Cottages kindly sent us a gingerbread house to make. Bob got very excited when the parcel arrived and as she is old enough to ‘help’ me this year we got to work straight away. Bob wasn’t very impressed that she couldn’t eat the gingerbread pieces so I found her some [click here to read on]

Gruesomely Ghoulish Pumpkin Cupcakes

About this recipe If you’re carving a pumpkin this Halloween, this is a great way of using up the flesh in a tasty and healthy recipe that’s perfect for kids to help with. Once you’ve scooped out the seeds and fibre, you should be able to carefully cut out enough flesh with a vegetable knife and keep the pumpkin shell for carving. You can grate the flesh, or use a food processor to do it in seconds. Ingredients 175g muscovado [click here to read on]

How To Make Clown Cupcakes

As you know we had a clown themed birthday party for Bob’s 2nd birthday. I have been very busy making many clown creations out of icing. I make cupcakes on a regular basis but I usually frost them with buttercream or spread runny icing on top of them. As I wanted to make clown cupcakes I thought that the easiest way to do this would be to make the tops of them out of fondant icing. This also meant that [click here to read on]

Jammie Dodgers

Since I have realised the cause of my twin bump I have had to be careful about what I eat. I am now quite wary of shop bought biscuits and cakes which is a good thing as I love baking! The other day I wanted to make some Jammie Dodgers. I have been searching for a biscuit recipe that can be used with cutters for some time as, although my Scrummy Yummy Cookies are delicious, Bob enjoys rolling (smushing) the [click here to read on]

1 Potato, 2 Potato, 3 Potato, 4.

Bob loves helping out in the kitchen! She obviously enjoys baking, as she takes after her mum, but she also likes to help out in general. Every time I approach the worktop she shouts, ‘Bake!’ and starts to pull up a chair. I box her in using 2 chairs and the kitchen table and we get to work. Sometimes I have to make jobs up to allow Bob to help. If the majority of the meal planning consists of chopping [click here to read on]
