I was very lucky not to experience morning sickness when I was pregnant. I have had some friends that have really struggled with it, so much so that they were scared to leave the house.

Unfortunately I did get horrendous acid reflux. This was so bad that it caused sickness in the last 3 months of my pregnancy and I ended up being hospitalised and pumped full of saline solution as I had keytones.

I also suffered from terrible heartburn. People used to tell me that Bob would be born with lots of hair. This may only be an old wives tale but in this case it was true. Bob had a full head of dark hair. Completely different to the blondie she is today.

Baby-&-Now

Gaviscon became my new best friend. It had to be the extra thick variety and I drank it almost as often as I drank my frozen water. (I was anaemic too.) My friend, who was pregnant at the same time as me, also drank it like it was going out of fashion. She also suffered from terrible indigestion and has been know to drink it as soon as the chemist passed it over the counter.

People told me that the heartburn would vanish when my baby was born and they were right. I remember being in labour and asking for heartburn relief but I have hardly had it since. My husband often has a Gaviscon tablet but I don’t think that’s because he’s pregnant. 😉
