One of the great things about the colder months is that its much easier to hide all our imperfections under big coats, chunky cardigans, trusty jeans and thick tights. But with warmer weather on the way, it might be time to start thinking about how to get your skin ready for the “big reveal”. Skirts, shorts, dresses… they all require a certain level of preparation before we can head outside and not worry about hairy legs or pasty pins.

So, what can you do to wake up your skin? Here are some super simple skin care tips that will have you glowing inside and out and feeling confident and comfortable in the warmer weather.

Switch up your makeup

Most of us tend to opt for more coverage during the winter months, but as the seasons change you might want to start looking at lighter options. The feeling of your makeup sliding off your face when you’re out in the sunshine isn’t great so make sure you have a good primer – check out the best primers as rated by vogue here. From flirty eye makeup to highlighter and don’t forget to invest in a good BB or CC cream!

Get yourself a facial

When it comes to flawless skin, we usually envisage beautiful Korean or French women. But do you know what their secret is? It’s getting a facial as frequent and as often as you would go food shopping! Deep cleansing of your face gets rid of all those clogged pores and dead skin cells, allowing your skin to breathe. Facials might not be on everyone’s budget right now, so take a look at some DIY home versions you can make yourself.

Is your skin looking a little dull? Don’t worry – maybe you just need to exfoliate a little more. Invest in a 100% natural exfoliator – avoid anything with beads in it – and use it 1-2 times a week. If you have dry, sensitive skin then use your own judgement on how often you should use it. The removal of all those dead skin cells will make your skin so much softer and brighter. And don’t forget to lock in your skins natural moisture with a good moisturiser or body lotion afterwards.

Don’t forget your heels!

Our feet are inevitably on show during the warmer months, and while many can’t wait to put on a pair of sandals, for some of us – its not a pleasant experience. Get your feet ready for the warmer weather and make sure you’re exfoliating and moisturising! Don’t forget your heels which often look cracked and dry. Treat yourself to a pedicure – you deserve it.

Start applying that gradual tan

If like me, you struggle with applying fake tan well, then don’t worry. It’s never to early to start buffing and adding a natural colour to your legs with a good, gradual tanner. Not only will the colour look more natural, but it’ll give you chance to spot all the areas you’ll inevitably miss!
